I wish someone was doing this same thing here in the states...anyway, I like to read just to get a sense of what's going on elsewhere or how other places report our news here. It's often quite different.

Hiya Todd, being honest, I probably miss more of what is going on than I actually notice although whether that really matters at present, I dont know.

I personally believe that the news has far more influence over our society than we would care imagine. For example, yesterday they featured vegetable growing in Kenya and the potential global warming harm.

Yet not far down the line are in-city, hydroponic, growing warehouses with cell grown plants. The news is simply nudging open the door for us to find that acceptable, when it eventually happens.

I have noticed that in the UK, they seem to focus on very simple concepts, colours, phrases, animals etc in order to almost weave a matrix of fear/conditioning on a massive scale.

We seem to be immune from the belief that the television is not in fact our friend in the corner - and is, more probably, the favoured tool in the battle against humanity and individualism by some sort of nefarious entity.

Added to that, during the World Wars, the BBC was seen as the home connection to the armed forces abroad. People sat round their radio, waiting for news. Hence the news is almost seen as sacrament to an older generation and that has no doubt influenced matters in terms of our thinking.

I am quite privileged to a certain extent, as I spent a lot of time with my grandfather when younger. Obviously his behaviour, attitudes and thinking was different from those of the generation below him and above me. I feel this taught me a lot about the way our society seems to have been herded - coincidentally, it is all since the 70's which, here in the UK anyway, was when TV became commonplace.

I dont know if I could stomach American news channels although our own ITN is heading that way. It is actually amusing in a black comedy type of way - yet extremely frightening - in terms of our future.

cheers again, thanks.

I appreciate you taking the time to give me some back story about why you do this. Interesting stuff...I grew up a child of the 70's, and so I agree with you that TV really came into it's own during that time...

Local news here is UNWATCHABLE...murder, theft, horror...and then about half of the broadcast is weather? National news is so loaded (especially cable news)you REALLY have to be careful watching it...they lull you in with so much drama but EVERYTHING ends up being used as topics to separate people based on belief systems. It's nasty and ugly.

I watch TV because I REALLY think it works BOTH ways. For me, it says more to me about "them" than anything about me. Of course it makes the masses totally predictable which is real sad to me...in many ways I've become use to being that outsider though.

Again, thanks for what you do!

Hiya Todd, the day when I sit in a pub (bar) and hear the news being ridiculed and laughed at by all within - is the day I shall feel humanity has a future.

To laugh is the best defence (in my opinion). It is all just a massive scaremongering exercise - we all live and die yet forget whilst living that our lives are extremely short.

The attempt seems to be to be to have the entire human population in a perpetual state of anxiety, and, as such, wasting their lives -constantly scared and chasing money, in the mistaken belief that this will provide them with happiness and peace of mind.

Personally, I have never felt any better than since starting "writing",it releases the obvious aggression I hold against the way that humanity is being treated, and, to a certain extent, makes me feel like I am doing something positive with my life.

Do you ever think about what would have happened if you had not been injured - where you would be - what you would be doing - would you be happier if you had "made it big" than if you were doing what you obviously enjoy now? Was there are deeper purpose behind it ?

These are things that I personally think about, I suppose I could have done "reasonably well" if I had submitted myself to the capitalist economy that I was encouraged to work in, yet deep in myself,I did not want to be part of the greed and filth.

I must not give the impression that this was a conscious decision, rather my life spiralled downwards?, out of control, until eventually I had to face facts about why human life (and my life) was miserable.

So, if you want to look at the future - the "outsiders" will become the core - the current one ousted as rotten.

The world is changing Todd and it is something to embrace for the future of humanity - if not ourselves. God/Nature will sort it all out but we must do our best to allow this evolution to happen on a humanitarian basis

That is our purpose, nothing more -the last battle will be won in the air and afferismoon will instruct you in the power of numbers, if indeed you need instructing

take care,

cheers
