An Iron Brew

Notable story in today's BBC regarding an old favourite here, James 6th & 1st (alleged) mother, Mary Queen of Scots (MQOS). It was only  couple of posts ago when I noted the connection between the good lady and the UKIP's, Nigel Farage, hostile reception in Edinburgh, where he was branded a Nazi by Scottish independence supporters he later branded fascists. (Window Dressing)."James" revised, maybe rewrote (with help), the Bible - gave it to the masses.

Here in the UK we are reminded of poor, beheaded Mary via a television programme called Mary Queen of Shops, which revolves around a retail guru, Mary Portas, transforming ailing businesses through her expertise. I don't watch TV any more but that seems to be the gist. Anyhow, Mary has red hair, which appears to be dyed, whilst images of Mary Queen of Scots show her with red hair too. This appears to be the only connection between the two Marys.

Red haired Mary Magdalene
Like the UK programs, the BBC's MQOS story concerns television, this time America, where their impressionable youth are due to be treated to a new show called Reign, which "re-imagines" MQOS' teenage years, "detailing the secret history of survival at French Court amidst fierce foes, dark forces, and a world of sexual intrigue". Apparently the programme has a prime slot, and is to be shown after new episodes of "supernatural drama", Vampire Diaries.

When it comes to vampires my first port of call is always the salt cellar and Nicholas De Vere's, From Transylvania to Tunbridge Wells, a text which inspired Laurence Gardner's works; more in fact, Laurence simply copied and expanded. It is interesting to read  Gardner's wikipedia entry, again others say more or less the same thing :

Laurence Gardner's first book Bloodline of the Holy Grail was published in 1996. The book was serialized in the Daily Mail and a best seller. He used his books to propose several theories, including a belief that Jesus and Mary Magdalene had married and had children, whose descendants included King Arthur and the House Of Stuart. His books also included theories about Freemasonry, the Knights Templar, The Holy Grail and proposed connections between Atenism and Judaism.

Mary Queen of Scots was House of Stuart, as was Princess Diana.

According to De Vere, the legend of the vampire comes from a priestly class of human overseers:

We can say with confidence then that real vampirism was indulged in by living beings who, unerringly, were members of the pre-christian high nobility and royalty. The most famous vampire stories, those of Dracula, Bathory and de Rais, support this conclusion. The historical evidence therefore supports the etymological origin of the word ’vampire’ - An Overlord

It has been suggested that Stoker was either a member of the OTO or the Golden Dawn and it would appear that the cohesion and integrity of the symbolism in his ’Dracula’ must therefore point to Stoker having a source of esoteric information far more informed in historical and alchemical terms than any that he might have obtained, as it has been suggested, purely from the folklore of Romanian peasants or from contemporary literary sources

De Vere claims that the "dragon" families, as he terms them, hail from Scythia.

On 6th April 1320, at Arbroath Abbey (where the Stone of Destiny was left after repatriation from England - see previous post), a declaration was promulgated in an attempt to convince the then Pope that Scotland was an independent country (here) :

Particularly interesting is that the Declaration claims a connection between the Scots and the Scythians, and also mentions the Exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt. The ancient tribe of the Scythians once lived in the area to which the "Lost Ten Tribes of Israel" were deported by the Assyrian Empire (according to the Bible and historical sources)

The placing of Reign, after the already popular Vampire Diaries is maybe a coincidence, but it's doubtful

Something to chew on

There's an interesting story on the BBC website today concerning Romania. Apparently, our government are considering running a series of "negative advertisements" in order to dissuade any potential migrants from the country from actually coming here when the borders open next year. In some parts of the UK they are already being bled dry by immigrants from other countries, which has caused some tension and, to a certain extent, provided fuel to anti-immigrant groups for example the English Defence League. (See both images below)

To counteract this, the Romanian's have themselves produced a series of advertisements which ridicule the UK government's strategy and note that, as pictured very top, Prince Charles, has a soft spot for their country, specifically Transylvania - legendary "home" of the vampires. So much of a soft spot, he owns a house there. Some say that Charles and the Royal "Windsor" Family have "blood-links" to Vlad the Impaler. (Telegraph)

According to Nicholas de Vere in his epic, From Transylvania to Tunbridge Wells, the legend of the blood sucking vampire is slightly befuddled. He claims that certain individuals have, shall we say, special qualities of prophecy and foresight which can be accessed by the consumption of menstrual blood. He claims that Jesus was one of these " noble dragons" and that references to the Holy Grail regard a special receptacle which was used for the purpose. Indeed, these "dragons" would have had their own, personal, grail maidens to provide the goods. He makes a lot of claims including that the Spencer family are of the Merovingian dynasty (and thus dragons), as are the Stuarts.

It sounds like nonsense, certainly a case of wheat and chaff, but who can forget Prince Charles and his infamous I wish I was your tampon quote to Camilla.

Below image is Prince William from his first appearance in his role as president of the Orange British Academy Film Awards, where he presented the "Orange rising star" to Kristen Stewart, for her role as Bella Swan in the Twilight vampire trilogy. (Old habits die hard).

Note too from today's BBC, that sandwich shop, Pret a Manger, have withdrawn their new spicy tomato - Virgin Mary - flavour potato crisps, after "religious complaints" (here).

Eats, shoots, and leaves

Today, Easter Monday, 9/4, saw a spattering of Royal related stories.

First up Prince William, two stories about him. A giant piece of liquorice has been made by manufacturers Panda, slightly early, to commemorate his forthcoming 30th birthday on the sun drenched solstice. The other regards his skiing trip with the in-laws, apparently a belated Valentines gift given his recent military service in Argentina. Both of these dubiously connect to Scotland; given all the fuss last week about the Edinburgh Zoo pandas and their unsuccessful 2 day long mating event, plus Glasgow Rangers (Billy Boys/William of Orange) and their descent into administration on Valentines Day - the ramifications of which should be finalised early this week allowing a phoenix club to rise from the debt-strewn ashes.

The Queen also starred today, alongside Camilla, the latter being appointed a Dame Grand Cross by the former, in recognition of her many royal engagements at home and abroad over the last 7 years.

Last up is Prince Harry who apparently spent his Easter in Romania with
Transylvanian Count, Tibor Kalnoky. The mail-online takes the opportunity to remind us that "it has been claimed that Britain’s Royal Family can be traced to Vlad the Impaler, the real-life ruler who inspired Transylvania’s Count Dracula vampire legend", although it does not say who made the claim. The further reading box to the right contains a text, From Transylvania to Tunbridge Wells, in which the author claims, amongst many other things, that the whole mythos of the vampire stems from the consumption of menstrual blood in order to gain "second sight". (There's allsorts in there). Which I suppose, scarily, takes us back to the Edinburgh Zoo pandas in a round-about sort of way.

America, Barack Obama, and bad smells

Henry Williamson, Tarka the Otter, 1927:

"Already his mother had ceased to care, although she would never entirely forget, that she had loved a cub called Tarka"

Some say that Barack is a symbol of an emerging New World - a world where racism and sexism have finally been eradicated - Mr. Obama being the proverbial proof of the pudding in the black equality stakes.

For sure he is something new, something different, potentially a fresh start for a country economically, militarily and spiritually bankrupt; only a blood drained and dry corpse remaining. (see Give 'em enough rope)

A country ready to be reborn, as always predestined?

The United States of Europe? - (See Going back to our Roots)

postscript:

Henry Williamson, Tarka the Human, 300AW(1):

Already the people had ceased to care, although they would never entirely forget, that they once had a black-president called Obama, a black- president who failed them, a black- president who led them into a living soul-less slave hell.
