ITN News Review - Sunday 15th June

I watched the early evening news on ITN where we commenced with politics. We were told of a Gordon Brown "bounce" in popularity which was strengthening; as such David Cameron, the Conservative leader is using the internet to "engage with people" in an attempt to reverse this trend. We saw images of political debate and David Milliband was interviewed.

Terror next, images of the blazing car and emergency services were shown. We were told of potential proposals to extend the period that a suspected terrorist (or perhaps anyone) can be held, without a criminal charge being offered against him by the authorities. Reference was made to Guantanamo Bay and the situation that occured there, where people were locked up for years with no criminal proceedings brought against them. However we can really only wait and see, we will have no say as individuals in this matter.

Coming up - The athletic Blade Runner and then - Prince - giving away his CD, free .

First, we heard of a rumpus at Tesco supermarkets. Details seemed pretty sketchy but it seems that threats of a nefarious nature have been issued to the store, resulting in it closing several of its retail outlets for a number of hours on Saturday. There is seemingly a possibility that this is due to Tesco in China selling turtles - however we were told that "even staff are in the dark" over what is actually happening.

Catholic Church in Los Angeles is to pay damages to victims of "sexual abuse" carried out by members of their organisation against children. We saw a victim who said no amount of money will "magically take away the pain."

A short feature on Pakistan, we saw images of urban warfare.

Our health next and it appears that there is not a link between poverty and poor eating. We heard of a report which has concluded that basically the majority of us do not eat proper, healthy food even if we can afford it. We saw images of the Royle family comedy show and were told of a diet of bacon butties. Various statistics were shown, the best I could analyse from them is that most fat women are poor whilst most fat men were rich. This seems probably about right and perhaps tells us much more than it appears.

It was then sport and we saw a feature about a disabled boy who has been fitted with artificial feet in order that he can take part in running competitions. These feet are known as cheetahs, the boy is known as Blade Runner. The problem seems to be that some people believe that this artificial aid is in fact giving an unfair advantage. Hence the moniker, although this was not mentioned.

Finally, big hearted Prince, giving away copies of his CD for free. (If you buy a newspaper). A photograph of the front cover is shown here, you will note Prince appears to be standing, perusing the world, from above.

A right dog's breakfast

A pair of white puddings, over microwaved; note the bone shaped pattern.

BBC TV News Review - Friday 13th July

It was Fiona Bruce who presented the BBC News at 10 last night, where we commenced proceedings with the conviction of media tycoon Conrad Black. Mr Black has been found guilty of fraud and obstructing justice. We heard how he was "an old fashioned press baron" and we saw CCTV images of him removing files from his offices to confirm his crime in our minds. We were told that he may have watched Citizen Kane too many times. So again, as yesterday, seeds of doubt over the integrity of our media are being sowed in our minds . Its harvest time that concerns me.

Next up was the tale of Robert Torto, a paranoid schizophrenic, who carried out three separate petrol bomb attacks on corner shops in London. Again, we saw how CCTV had helped catch this individual and images of the burning shops were shown. We were told that Mr Torto believed he was the son of God. I thought Jesus confirmed we were all sons of God though but this was not mentioned.

The BBC themselves next - after Thurday's embarrasment with the Queen, they are set to "put their house in order".

Breast cancer to follow and we heard how it was taking too long for ladies to be diagnosed with breast cancer after reporting any symptoms to their GP's. We saw a lady who would have had to wait 12 weeks for an appointment, she had instead gone private and as such had been treated and "was on the road to recovery" by the time her NHS appointment came through. We were again asked to consider what might have happened in this instance (thanks for the mammaries, perhaps) and then we saw a doctor state that"every woman believes she has breast cancer". This statement was then expanded upon, the doctor actually meant every lady who has a lump believes she has cancer and this therefore somehow could explain the lengthy delays in obtaining NHS treatment.

Network Rail - it appears that someone will face manslaughter charges over the Cumbria train crash earlier this year. We saw images of the derailed train etc.

Coming up - American poor people and their health

First - Beckham mania hits America. We saw the Beckhams surrounded by paparazzi (700 we were told) as David prepares to "take soccer to a new level" as he prepares for a new season with LA Galaxy. David gave an interview in which he stated his family came before his football and we saw images of Victoria mingling with other "celebrities". The Beckhams we are told are "taking to Hollywood like a duck to water." Mention was made of a potential friendship with Tom Cruise.

Our country and floods followed. The government is releasing some money to help pay for the damage. Hull, an area which we have seen in some detail recently, will receive 2 million pounds.

Back to sport and Gordon Brown is to release a million pounds to help school sports. The tories saw this is spin and we saw images of Gordon playing tennis. We saw Kelly Holmes and we heard of how the UK could be "the greatest sporting nation in the World". Furthermore, sporting activities combat drugs, obesity and anti social behaviour. Apparently, a target is to be set for our youngsters of 5 hours per week of sporting activities, previously this was two hours, however it will not be compulsory. Could it be compulsory - can you actually make someone take part in a sport ? Anyway, it appears "sport is the way forward".

The promised American poor people next. This was a feature about poor people in South Carolina who are being refused treatment for HIV as they have no money. George Bush appears to be getting the blame. We saw images and interviews with dying people and their relatives.

Put them together and what have you got....

"To our human mind, personal friendship represents one of the most cherished values and any social organisation not built upon its basis inspires us with a chilling sense of the inhuman. However, even the simple and innocuous mechanisms of anonymous flocking can turn into something not only inhuman but truly terrible. In human society these mechanisms remain more or less hidden, being superseded by non-anonymous well-organised relationships between individuals, but there is contingency in which they erupt with the uncontrolable power of a volcano and gain complete mastery over man, causing behaviour that can no longer be called human. This horrible recrudescence of the ancient mechanisms of flocking behaviour occurs in mass panic. I was once an unwilling witness of the sudden emergence and rapidly snowballing effect of this process of dehumanization, and if I was not drawn into its vortex it was only because, thanks to my knowledge of flocking behaviour, I had seen the approaching danger sooner than the others and had time to guard against my own reactions. To me there is small pride in the memory ; on the contrary, no one can put much trust in his own self mastery who has ever seen men more courageous than himself, men fundamentally disciplined and self controlled, rushing blindly along, closely huddled, all in the same direction, with eyes protruding, chests heaving, and trampling underfoot everything that comes in their way, exactly like stampeding ungulates, and no more accessible to reason than them.

The "Secret" World of Mr Roderick Stewart

Yesterday, our Queen had a busy day. In the morning, there was all the furore over the BBC; in the afternoon, she attended a 1st World War memorial service in Belgium.

One can only marvel at the output of HRH, given that on glancing through todays free Metro "newspaper" it transpires that she also managed to give the esteemed Scottish crooner, Mr Rod Stewart, a CBE at Buckingham Palace. We recently saw Rod at the Princess Diana concert at Wembley.

Mr Stewart shunned the traditional morning suit apparel and instead opted for a pair of white Ralph Lauren strides and black Dolce and Gabbaba jacket teamed with a white shirt with black stripes and similar two tone footwear. Most importantly though, we are told "His black tie was patterned with white skull and crossbone pirate motifs."

Could this be anything to do with the shady American freemasonic 322 Skull and Bones society.
Especially given his scottish Stewart connection.

I leave you to ponder.

cheers

BBC TV News Review - Thursday 12th July

Fiona Bruce headed the BBC News at 10 last night where we began with their apology to the Queen. The BBC made a documentary about HRH called a Year with the Queen and somehow, by mistake, a short teaser of this this was shown to BBC staff.

In the trailer Her Majesty was shown apparently storming out of a session with photographer Annie Leibovitz, after a row about removing her tiara. We were told that the claims she had walked off were in fact incorrect and that this had never happened. The BBC accepted that the "film was edited out of sequence" and that this cast a misleading picture of events - in fact, the Queen was portrayed as leaving the meeting when she was actually entering it.

We then saw the BBC Controller, Peter Fincham, who explained how the blunder had occured and apologised further. Reference was made to the recent Blue Peter scandal when it transpired that a recently held phone-in competition was in fact a a fix and we saw a short clip of that programme, including its famous ship motif. Numerous images of the Royal family, including William and Harry, together with clips of the forthcoming programme were shown throughout this feature. Images of the paparazzi were also shown.

What could we say about this. We could follow what is being said as being the true facts. Or, perhaps, we may think that maybe the original sequence of events was in fact correct and that the Queen has pulled some strings in order to retain her dignity.

What if the whole thing was a deliberate ploy. Create a senario where the Queen and the BBC appear to be in conflict. This helps bolster the Queen's popularity and also questions the integrity of the BBC and the media in general. We could go so far as to say that the collective public perception is that our Royalty and media do not in fact get on. We saw another recent example of this in the Channel 4 Diana Death Documentary and the furore over the young Princes which surrounded that show.

Bush, Iraq and America next. Our cousins in the far West are "tired of war". We saw Bush speaking and he claimed that "war fatigue is affecting our psychology." He jabbed his finger to the side of his head to emphasise his point. However, George doesnt seem to hold himself at all responsible and the problem seems to be that the new Iraq Government are not reaching their targets. Apparently, they have only managed eight satisfactory and eight non-satisfactory outcomes in their yearly assesment. Any readers who have ever suffered the indignity of an annual work appraisal will no doubt sympathise.

A long feature then ensued, we saw a gravestone manufacturer in America who is doing great business because 3 troops die per day. We saw a military graveyard. We saw images of troops in Iraq. We saw how some locals in Iraq still "rely on electric fans to keep cool in temperatures of 50 degrees plus. Then we saw a tribal leader, part of the new government, who advised us that the troops cant go. Bush agrees with this. We finished back at Washington for a resume of the situation.

2 sixteen year old girls caught with six kilos of cocaine at Ghana airport. They believed they were getting a free holiday. We saw a run down on the main cocaine smuggling routes and we saw an interview with a friend of the girls. However, "this was an amateurish plan becuase Ghana airport has scanning equipment".

Coming up (and we saw images of war and a miltary graveyard) - Passchendaele

First though, more war, this the case of two military personnel, killed in so called friendly fire. The incident happened on the 4th day of the Iraq war however only now has been looked at in a court of law. A verdict of unlawful killing should have been the verdict, however the assistant deputy coroner cannot record this as being the cause due to the fact it happened during military combat. We were told how the officer held responsible, Lt Col Lindsay MacDuff was now in charge of the entire Black Watch regiment and had recently been promoted to that position.

We then saw a computer game style graphic reconstruction of the incident, complete with various nations flags superimposed on a map. A bit like the start of Dads Army, I think, where the flags are in the shape of arrows, showing the advancing armies. It might have been Colditz. Then we saw a soldier with some severe facial disfigurement and were further advised that there are questions over the condition of the equipment and guns that our troops utilise in warfare.

Another soldier killed in Afghanistan, a map of that country was shown.

A paedophile story next, involving a minor celebrity, Chris Langan, or something like that. Anyway, the aforementioned individual was in court for a multitude of child sex offences. We saw him arriving and departing from court and images of the Ivy restaurant in London were shown, to confirm his celebrity status.

Schools - a new regime is to be imposed and this will give more choice of subjects to our pupils. Cokking was mentioned as were the languages, Mandarin and Urdu. Coincidentally, the latter of the languages was mentioned the other night in a feature on muslims and mosques. The one where we saw a white man praying.

The next feature began with images of a brown envelope coming through the letterbox. We were told this is "not popular". Remember only yesterday, when illuminated Nick Robinson talked of the twenty three brown bills. Or perhaps its all browns that are not welcome.

This was a green feature however and concerned the plans by the liberal democrats to "shift the tax burden", should they ever come into power. We saw their leader, Menzies Campbell, give a short speech. We were told of the super-rich and saw a well dressed man, polishing his massive 4X4 vehicle. Do the super-rich wash their own cars ? Then we saw three different sets of Liberal Democrat political activists with more than their fair share of brown faces. On a pro rata basis. We saw images of pedestrians in a busy high street, in Ealing. Coincidentally, a very badly disabled lady was walking (for want of a more descriptive term) up the street, just at the right time. Comedy for the sick of mind ?

The promised feature now - more war - Passchendaele. This was the 90th anniversary of a World War one battle and as such a commemorative service was held to remember it. We saw red poppies being dropped from an old aircraft. The Queen was there, with Phillip.

I don't normally comment about the regional news but we were told up here in Scotland that our leader Alex Salmond is not happy about the deal we receive in respect of our fishing rights. It appears that trouble is ahead and again this will put strain upon the already fragile relationship with England. We were also told that the lady arrested, on the M6, in the recent terror attacks, has been released without charge.

I didnt take notes on ITN, it was more of the same really. There was however a feature on Lewis Hamilton, the formula 1 driver. We saw the chequered flag being waved as we were told of a corruption type story, involving the McLaren team. Mention was made of a blueprint. Funnily enough, Lewis Hamilton was on Blue Peter when he was still very young. I covered it a month or so ago.

Saddest sight last night. A boy of about 13, weeping over the death of his great grandad in 1917, in WW1. If we keep looking back then we are going to miss what is coming straight in our face?. In fact, is it not already here but no one has told us yet ?

cheers

BBC TV News Review - Wednesday 11th July

We commenced on the BBC News at 10 with politics and as such, it was straight over to chief political editor, Nick Robinson for his rundown on the days events.

Nick Robinson - Illuminati ?

Gordon Brown has broken with tradition in announcing 23 new bills of legislation, most of which seem to revolve around housing, education and health. Normally, these bills would be announced in the Queen's speech which opens our governmental year in November, however Gordon has broken with this one hundred and fifty year tradition and has released his plans early.

Nick then told us how only months ago, Gordon was loyal to Tony Blair over the super casinos, now he has reversed the decision. Furthermore, "he has done the Queen's job for her" in releasing details of the "23 brown bills". We saw clips of David Cameron and Menzies Campbell, putting in their tuppence worth and then Nick reminded us of how the casino story was announced on the BBC News some months ago. A brief clip of this old news report was shown and we were told that "the plans are dead in the water".

We went to Manchester to see some locals who are not happy about the governments change of heart over the casinos. We saw images of inside a super casino, with the all the flashing fruit machines and roulette tables. We saw a man who was going to invest in the casino project, he advised he would simply "move into other areas of Europe".

Wokingham next, where residents are fed up with the relentless housing development which has gone on for the last thirty years. All the brownfield sites have been utilised and now there is talk of building on green areas. Obviously the locals are not happy, they say that there are not enough facilities as it is in terms of schools, doctors etc. We were told that we need more homes though - "how and where are the burning questions".

Terror - The four men convicted of the twenty one eleven terrorism offences were all given life sentences. We saw images of the raid on the house and the men on the balcony again. We saw an interview with a fireman who had intervened on the tube, when the would be bomber had attempted to detonate his device and then we saw images of the seventy year old man; the one trained in unarmed combat; chasing the suspect along the platform.

Coming up - New images of our earliest Galaxies

Next up was a feature on the annual bonfires in Northern Ireland which are constructed in order to celebrate the "sectarian" Battle of the Boyne which is meant to have taken place on the 1st July 1690. The anniversary is celebrated on the 12th due to the change from the Julian to Gregorian calender.

The battle is today used as a sectarian tool and as such, we saw massive, six storey high, masonic bee-hive shaped bonfires, constructed from rubber tyres and pallets. Local lads were shown climbing up and down in the manner of monkeys. More monkeys were shown, these ones wearing black paramilitary uniforms including balaclavas, and shooting handguns in the air. This was the UDA we were told. Curiously, the report was not on whether there was a need for this type of behaviour any more but was in fact on whether the burning of the tyres would have an impact in terms of green issues, not the catholic green, but the environmental green.

20 children in a coach crash, two are critical. In the next sentence we were told they are "poorly but stable".

Iraq and America next and there is "an effort to tackle the violence". 523 Americans have died since February. Is this right? Anyway, we went to America and travelled round with a staff sergeant Baloo (phonetic spelling). Mr Baloo's job is to travel round in his van and break the news of relatives dying at war. It seems like the ice is already broken though before he even has to speak because Baloo advised us "when they see the white van and we knock on the door, they know its not good news". This was confirmed when we travelled to an area where "the patriotism is measured in the height of flagpoles" and met a lady who told us when she saw three marines at her door it was obvious her son was dead.

This lady, who's phonetically pronounced name was Mrs Deli (one near you?), told us how the news-breaking marines were "so gentle". We got to see round her house as well, and saw the array of photographic memories which are all that is left for the poor lady. Mr Baloo was summed up as being "like a delivery man, with many more miles to go."

Genital mutilation next, we saw images of a girl being held down while family members attempted to remove her clitoris with a razor blade. This is a "prerequisite for marriage" in some African cultures. The story seems to be that "in our communities you must abide by our rules" and so, to comply with the rules, UK based Africans are in fact commuting their daughters to Africa during the school holidays, in order that this "surgery" can be carried out. A victim told us that "Man is to blame". Do we really need to see this type of report ?

Red Mosque in Pakistan - 73 killed.

Time for the promised new galaxies. These have been "discovered" some 13 million light years away and we were told of how much more there is still to discover in space. Some cute schoolchildren told how this was all really cool and we saw images of space. New space ?

cheers
